PMHS Holiday Pet Tree: Simple Gifts That Make a Big Impact
The Holiday Pet Tree Is Back and It Matters More Than Ever
Every December, a tree goes up at Pope Memorial Humane Society that carries a little more meaning than ornaments or lights. It is covered in tags, each one representing something our animals need while they are here with us. Some items are small, some are bigger, and all of them help.
This year, the tradition has a new name: the Holiday Pet Tree. Same purpose, just a fresh label.
Starting December 1 at 11 a.m., you are invited to stop by the shelter and choose a tag or a few. You will find the basics like food, toys, and blankets, along with the everyday supplies that keep the shelter running smoothly such as bleach, printer paper, and Pet Safe Salt. They may not look like typical holiday gifts, but they are essential to the work we do.
That ream of paper prints the medical records and adoption contracts that send animals home.
The cleaning supplies keep everyone healthy.
The Pet Safe Salt helps our volunteers walk dogs safely throughout the winter.
Every tag supports the care that happens here each day.
Holiday Pet Trees in the Community
If you cannot make it to the shelter, Holiday Pet Trees are also set up at:
- Laurel’s Dolce Vita
- Rockland Animal Hospital
- Ruckus Donuts
- The Samoset Resort
You are welcome to take a tag from any of these locations and drop off your gift whenever it works for you.
A Simple Gift That Goes a Long Way
If you enjoy wrapping gifts, go for it. It adds a bit of fun when donations arrive. We reuse or recycle what we can.
The Holiday Pet Tree is our largest donation drive of the year and helps prepare us for the winter months ahead. Every tag taken and every gift given ensures the animals at PMHS have what they need while they wait for their next chapter.
If you are out of the area but want to join in, email Kasey at Kasey@PopeHumane.org, and she will send you a tag.
