Love Dogs? Don’t Mind Poop? Volunteer at PMHS!
Love dogs, cats, and small friends? Don’t mind a little poop (okay, maybe a lot sometimes) or a bit of barking in the morning? Then volunteering at Pope Memorial Humane Society (PMHS) might just be your dream gig!
Our volunteers are the heartbeat of PMHS, helping homeless pets receive the care, attention, and love they need, while making their days —and ours —a whole lot brighter. From walking dogs to cleaning kennels, assisting at events, or greeting visitors at the front desk, there’s a way for everyone to help.
Currently, one of our biggest needs is for kennel volunteers in the mornings. This is perfect for folks who love dogs, can handle the occasional “oops” (aka poop), and don’t mind a little barking chorus to start the day. These early hours make a huge difference in the lives of our dogs, keeping their spaces clean, their bellies full, and their tails wagging.
Other ways you can help include:
- Cleaning cat areas and kennels
- Walking and exercising dogs
- Helping at the front desk
- Assisting with PMHS events
- And more!
Getting started is easy:
- Complete a Volunteer Application
- Attend Volunteer Orientation – held monthly in the PMHS Community Room. You’ll get the inside scoop on our mission, meet the animals, and take a behind-the-scenes tour of the shelter.
- Meet with our Volunteer Coordinator to discuss your availability and find the perfect opportunity for you.
Next Volunteer Orientation:
– Saturday, October 11, 2025
– 11 am – 12:30 pm
– PMHS Community Room
Whether you’re cleaning, walking, greeting, or organizing, every moment you spend volunteering helps make a homeless pet’s life a little brighter.
