Artist Haylene Mendez’s exhibition on display at PMHS

Pope Memorial Humane Society is thrilled to announce the newest exhibition of artwork is now being displayed on the Art Wall in the lobby of Pope Memorial Humane Society. The current show, featuring pieces by Haylene Mendez, will be on display and available for purchase through March 19th, 2022.

Haylene has been painting in acrylics for a while but wanted to try something new. She began painting in watercolors during the spring of 2021, following various artists on YouTube. Haylene finds working in watercolors very relaxing. She enjoys seeing the outcome and figuring out what she can do to get even better.

“I was born and raised in a small town in England. I went to public school and never advanced in art so the phrase “art is for everyone” is definitely a true statement. I would strongly recommend watercolor for anyone who likes to sit down and take a break from everyday life. I don’t have plans to be a professional, but I don’t think you have to be a professional artist to enjoy art and create paintings for others.”

Pope Memorial Humane Society is currently open by appointment, Monday through Saturday from 11 am to 4 pm. If you would like to visit the shelter and see Haylene’s work, please call 207-594-2200. If you are interested in exhibiting your work on the PMHS Art Wall, please email art@popehumane.org.
