Built by Community, for the Animals: PMHS Opens In-House Veterinary Clinic

We’re excited to share a milestone moment in the history of Pope Memorial Humane Society—the official opening of our in-house Pope Veterinary Clinic!

On Thursday, June 12th, we celebrated the grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by supporters, community members, and local animal lovers. PMHS Board Members Haley Hall, Patrick Chamberlin, PJ Walter, and Kath Holland had the honor of cutting the ribbon and opening the clinic’s doors to the public for the very first time.

Originally envisioned as the final piece of our 2021 five-year strategic plan, the clinic became a reality ahead of schedule thanks to the generosity of our community and the unwavering support of longtime PMHS friend Lyman Pope. Named in his honor, the Pope Veterinary Clinic is already helping shelter animals get the care they need, when they need it.

“Naming the clinic after Lyman Pope is a meaningful way to honor someone who has done so much for animals—not just here at PMHS but across the country,” said Tracy Sala, Executive Director of Pope Memorial Humane Society. “But this clinic isn’t here because of one person alone; it’s here because of our community. Every single person who donated, shared our story, or stood by us made this happen. It’s a true reflection of what we can accomplish together.”

The Pope Veterinary Clinic allows us to provide consistent, high-quality medical care on-site for shelter animals. From spay/neuter surgeries and wellness exams to urgent medical needs, the clinic is enhancing the lives of animals in our care and helping them transition into loving homes more quickly.

During the grand opening, guests were given guided tours of the state-of-the-art facility, including the surgical suite, exam rooms, and behind-the-scenes areas where our team provides lifesaving care.

We are deeply grateful to our donors, veterinary partners, and volunteers for helping make this dream a reality. Your support ensures shelter animals receive the medical care they need to thrive.
